Ubisoft‘s PvP game, publicly referred to as ‘Project Q’, has been cancelled, the company has confirmed to VGC.

Little about the game has been officially revealed by the company, but it acknowledged Project Q’s existence last April after leaked footage emerged.

At the time, closed test invites seen by VGC described Project Q as “an innovative and modern PvP battle arena game”.

While the leaked footage was reminiscent of Fortnite, Ubisoft said Project Q was not a battle royale game.

Claims of the project’s cancellation, which were first made by Insider Gaming, have since been confirmed to VGC by a Ubisoft spokesperson.

“We can confirm we will no longer support the development of Project Q in order to focus on priority projects, to which our teams are being reallocated,” they said.

Ubisoft confirmed last week that it had cancelled three unannounced games and was planning to strengthen its focus on its biggest brands and live services following weaker than expected software sales over the holiday season.

It’s not clear if Project Q is one of the three unannounced games in question, but VGC has asked Ubisoft for confirmation.

Project Q is not to be confused with Project U, which is the codename for a more recently announced co-op shooter from Steep and Riders Republic studio Ubisoft Annecy.
